Repeal Presidential Emergency Powers!
To My Congressman and Senators
| Whereas: | Many governments—both modern and ancient—have collapsed because a leader, even well-intentioned, cries “emergency” and the consent of the governed is cast aside for the “greater good.” America should not be one of them; and |
| Whereas: | The Constitution is clear: the powers of government are divided into three branches: legislative, executive and judicial; and |
| Whereas: | The Constitution is clear: “All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States.” It is in black and white. Art. I, § 1. Even if the Legislature had intended to convey its lawmaking power to the executive branch, it was a constitutionally improper violation of the Separation of Powers doctrine; and |
| Therefore: | As your constituent, I demand you restore constitutional order and move to repeal all laws granting the President “emergency” powers! |
